Snap Design


In 2018, Snap, Inc., parent of Snapchat, launched the Snap Design Academy (SDA), a six-week innovative design training course for 20 students from Los Angeles area community colleges. Now an annual program, students participate in custom, creative workshops, fireside chats and mentorship with Snap employees and L.A. artists. We worked with Snap to develop the pilot, create curriculum, and to find and vet all participating students. We program managed the SDA for Snap. Over 100 Snap employees participated the first summer. Students presented their projects to senior leadership, including Snap CEO Evan Spiegel. Many students later went on to get internships and jobs at Snap, but also at companies like Nike, Bixel Exchange and the City of Los Angeles. Due to its overwhelming success, Snap Inc. has made it an annual event and it serves as a model for other companies seeking to tap into traditionally under-represented talent pipelines.
